Some people like to know: what are noobs and what are newbies? Or: what's the different between a noob and a newbie?
Well, I shall explain that and more on this page.
First of all, let me explain the definitions of noobs and newbies.
Newbies
A newbie is a person who is new at something, just started at something, or just registered at a place like a forum or a game site. A newbie usually uses fairly good spelling/grammar, and is nice when introducing. He/she usually follows the rules and is a good person.
Story
Eri just registered at a forum. She went to the Newbie board and posted her hi's. She had already read the rules--or most of it, and is ready to be active along with others. She avoids spamming, and is respectful to other members.
Noobs
A noob is someone who's new at something, too, like a newbie. However, a noob never reads the rules, does stuff wrong, and spams up everything. A noob also likes to flame at others, and can be rude and disrespectful to others.
Story
Matt signed up for a Pokemon forum. He is okay with Pokemon, but he hates Charizard. The forum clearly states to read the rules. Matt clicked on it, but read nothing. He went to the Newbie board and using terrible chatspeak, wrote his hi's. It wasn't exactly wrong to use chatspeak at that particular forum, but some other members asked him nicely to not use chatspeak. That made Matt mad. He used all capitols and said stuff like, "I CAN USE WATEVR I WANT!!!!!" Then he went to other boards and started to spam. He soon got banned.
Now that you know a little of what newbies and noobs are like, you might be wondering: well, some people call newbies noobs. What's up with that?
Simple. Some people, like on Runescape, randomly call new people noobs, whether they're respectful or disrespectful. You'd usually come across these things on games like that. Pokemon fansites are usually nice to everybody, and that's why you don't see any cussing, etc. on most if not nearly all Pokemon fansites. For example, an Inuyasha forum's rules are not nearly as restrictful as a Pokemon forum's, since Inuyasha is rated T+ and Pokemon is rated E.
What do you do when you're called a noob and you aren't?
Laugh at them. Say "lol". Don't mind them.
FACT: The word "noob" is commonly typed with 0's: "n00b".
What noobs like to do.
Cuss.
Some/most noobs like to swear randomly just because they feel like it.
Spam.
Oh yesss. Noobs make spamming a sport. They type random stuff everywhere, appropriate or not, and advertise junky sites.
Flame.
Noobs flame when they don't get what they want. They'll say stuff like, "GIMME IT NOW!!! I HATE U. UR AN IDIOT!!!" And then a fight starts, but likely the noob will be banned from wherever he/she said that.
Scam.
Noobs like to scam people. For example, they might tell you, "If you do [insert whatever] for me, I'll give you loads of money and make you a site." Never fall for stuff like this. It's usually easy to tell an honest person from a scammer, but be careful anyway!
Beg.
Yep. Noobs are really hopeless in games like Runescape. They beg random people for money, and say stuff like, "Plz plz plz plz!! im relly poor! i need money! gimme some plz!" Ignore stupid noobs like that.
Act like a noob.
Well, they're a noob, and so they'll act like one. Beside doing everything I've typed above, they'd run all over the place, say random stuff, and basically cause disruption.
By the time you're done reading this, you probably have an idea or more of what noobs and newbies are like and their differences. Here's some advice: Don't be a n00b! ^^
