Flamers & Spammers
Flaming = shouting/bashing at someone/something or insulting someone over the Internet. Spamming = posting random, pointless things, abusing punctuation, and usually doing it in chatspeak. Let's face it. There are some pretty idiotic people on the Internet, and everyone has likely seen flaming or spamming at some point. Anyone from webmasters to forum-goers to just an ordinary Internet surfer get flamed. Well, let's take a look at what you should do, or should not do about it.Firstly, if it's a n00b, don't bother.
N00bs, or really immature people who constantly use chatspeak and seem to have brains of melted cheese, make a sport out of flaming and spamming. If a n00b is flaming/spamming you, then it's highly likely it's random and simply for their enjoyment. At this point, it's best to ban them from your site or ignore them completely.
What are you being flamed about?
If you're being flamed about something like for example, copying someone's work, then see what you can do about it. Maybe they do have some right at least to be angry at you. If that's the case, then apologize if you know you did wrong. If you don't see any reason for them to be flaming about it, then talk to them about it. Try to be polite, or at least not brimming with irritation, and maybe you can figure something out to get on better terms.
Don't flame back.
It's easy to get angry and frustrated, but one of the worst things you can do is flame back at the person. That will simply make things worse, and you will meet the flamer's purpose. They simply want to make you feel bad, and if you react to that, then they know they've succeeded. So get a cool "lol whatever" air about it and ignore them, pretending like what they say doesn't matter. They'll eventually get bored or go away. If they don't, see if they can get banned.
Get "high and mighty".
Only if you're a webmaster. If someone's flaming on your site and you've asked them to stop and they don't, then you have every right to kick them off.
Tell them in a dignified manner
